BIG LUNCH 2018 – 10 JUNE 2018

NSMRA and All Souls have collaborated on putting on the Big Lunch every year since the idea was first formulated by the Eden Project in 2009.  So this year is the 10th Big Lunch.

So what’s it all about?  It could not be simpler. The community meets up at the corner of Northcote Road and Haliburton Road, sits down (tables and chairs will  be provided) and eats, drinks and gets merry together.  Bring food and drink to share, corrall your friends, make new friends, ask neighbours to join you.

For children, the Church lays on entertainment and fun.  We are hoping to have a raffle.

No need to confirm, or do anything apart from turning up: the fun starts at 12.30pm

If it rains, the church opens its doors!

But these things do need a bit of help. We need help getting some of the tables and chairs out of storage on Sunday morning – if you can lend a hand with this please call Martyn on 020 8892 5211. And of course clearing up.

We are hoping to have some music, and if you, or your children, want to do a bit of entertaining, this will be welcomed.

On that day, Northcote Road will be closed from Newry Road to the footbridge end, and we ask that residents try not to park in that part of the road adjacent to the curtilage of the Church.

There is a meeting this Wednesday 30 May at 72 Northcote Road at 7.30pm to discuss the final arrangements.

River Celebration Day

The River Crane is the boundary of the NSMRA area and the Tidal Crane Association will be holding its annual River Celebration on 16 June 2018 – this event has been running for 41 years and is a wonderful community get together – not just for those with river frontages!

There will be opportunities for exploring the River, getting damp and muddy or just looking!  The evening rounds off with a riverside BBQ. Full details at this link.

Four years ago, the Association marked the centenary of the start of the First World War with a series of events which were centred around the names of local people who died during that terrible conflict.

It is proposed to commemorate the end of that War with a performance of poetry, prose and song on 11 November 2018, which is a Sunday.  It will be a community event, as it was before, and if you would like to participate in it, please get in touch, particularly if you would like to sing, or get involved in stage or sound management.

In any event, please put the date in your diaries.
